The production duties for the new Ford GT supercar have been handed over to Multimatic Motorsports, Ford’s longtime partner in its racing programs.
The announcement was made recently at the Toronto Auto Show near the company’s headquarters in Markham by Ford President of America, who said the decision was made to benefit from Multimatic’s years of experience in Carbon Fiber.
The 600HP Ford GT carbon fiber clad supercar was unveiled last month in Detroit, and is set to go into production next year. The company intends to build only a few hundred of these a year and charge around $200,000 for each.
The GT is part of the company’s new Ford Performance division in addition to other models like the Focus RS, F-150 Raptor and Mustang GT 350R, all of which have been announced during the past month.
