In the last few years, Honda has been keen on venturing further into the Chinese automobile market. Honda has now made an announcement of their first sedan model that will be developed in China for the Chinese market. Honda said that for this they have decided to collaborate with Guangqi Honda Automobile Co Ltd that looks after Honda’s vehicle production and sales in China. The all new CRIDER will be the first ever sedan that Honda will manufacture in China for the Chinese audience.
While Honda has not revealed too much about the new middle class sedan the carmaker said that they need to understand the needs and requirements of Chinese car buyers and they understand that most car buyers here in China are young and they need stylish and super performance cars. Honda revealed that they are concentrating on people who are born in 1980s. The new CRIDER will have dynamic exterior design that is inspired by an image of a dragon. The car will have outstanding handling capabilities and will be powered by 1.8 liter i-VTEC mated with five speed automatic transmission and five speed manual transmission. The new CRIDER will offer fuel economy of 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers on manual transmission and 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers on automatic transmission.
Honda has also focused on comfortable and spacious and modern interiors infused with new technologies that offer better audio, navigation and driving controls. The carmaker said that they believe the suggested retail price will be around 114,800 RMB or 1.84 million yen which makes it an affordable price sedan.
